Founded as the Canon Brewery in Strasbourg on the German border in 1664, it moved to the city’s Cronenbourg district in the nineteenth century. Started by Jérôme Hatt. He set up his brewery right in the centre of Strasbourg, at the Brasserie du Canon, a few steps away from the cathedral. In 1970, Kronenbourg joined the Danone group along with the Société Européenne de Brasseries (Kanterbräu). In 1986, Kronenbourg merged with Kanterbräu to become the "Brasseries Kronenbourg" Brasseries Kronenbourg is a part of the Carlsberg Group since the 29th April 2008. |
