Whitbread, UK

 
     

In December 1742 Samuel Whitbread went into partnership with Thomas Shewell. Whitbread invested £2,600 in the two small breweries. The Goat Brewhouse made porter and Brick Lane produced pale and amber beers.

Inb the early 1970ties it was Britain's third largest brewer. In 2001 the brewing part was sold to InBev. InBev controls the use of the Whitbread brand, and the hind's head logo, for use on beverages.

   

Mackeson's Stout
Mackeson Stout was originally brewed by the Mackeson brewery, Kent, back in 1907. Whitbread acquired the brand in the 1920s and gave it national distribution.
